The Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Palm Jumeirah

I spent hours each day slowly walking along the shoreline, my feet sinking into the warm sand and gliding through the crystal-clear water as I searched for beautiful shells to bring home. The sound of the waves and the feeling of the sun made it impossible to rush. I never wanted to leave. While I wandered the beach, my sister spent most of her time swimming, where she was able to spot several sea urchins resting on the ocean floor below her.

When we first arrived at the Waldorf Astoria, I was completely in awe. Even though I was exhausted from traveling, the elegance of the hotel instantly woke me up. I couldn’t believe that I was actually staying there. When we finally stepped into our room, my sister and I excitedly explored every corner, opening doors and peeking into rooms with the giddy energy of puppies discovering a new space.

The room itself was stunning, and the service throughout the hotel was exceptional, but my favorite part by far was the beach and pool area connected to the resort. Dozens upon dozens of pristine lounge chairs stretched along both the shoreline and the pool, creating a picture-perfect scene. Attentive staff members were always nearby, ready to hand you a fresh towel or a bottle of cold water the moment you asked. There were so many different things to do at the hotel as well, even though much of it was designed for older ages. Although I wasn’t allowed in the gym or the game room, I still had the time of my life exploring the tennis courts, the beach, and the many different pools scattered around the resort. Every area felt like a new place to discover, which made the hotel itself feel like an adventure.

The Waldorf Astoria also offered several dining options, each one having different unique options. My favorite place to eat dinner was the beachfront restaurant, where my family and I sat on a large, comfortable couch on the sand while being served incredible food. The ocean breeze and relaxed atmosphere made every meal feel special.

Even though we were in Dubai—a city of the future—I didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel at all. All I wanted was to stay by the water, searching for shells and relaxing, because the Waldorf Astoria made it effortless to feel peaceful, happy, and completely at ease.
